Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Old tapes were donated to the National Archives of Game Show History, and NAGSH asked if we wanted the games for data.
The first game we've decided to enter is 1986-03-06: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7558

Gotta do her profile some justice there Andy.
Glad to finally have at least the first episode in after all the legwork put in for getting the dates down.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
I should also mention that the NAGSH collection has allowed us to date a number of Season 1 & 2 episodes that we weren't as certain about.
A couple of changes have been made to the Archive on the episode dating front.

1986-03-10 (Barbara Lowe Game 3) is now in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7561
THE 1920's $600 is probably the most famous clue of the run; I have done my best to accurately transcribe what happened.
The mid-round scoring errors were a trip, but they were all corrected for the start of the following round.
Edited to add: Yes, the clues are missing random articles sometimes for length.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Interesting that Barbara, blessed with a contentiously earned control, left the category, where the Daily Double was hiding in the next clue down. Instead she went over to BASEBALL $400, where she gave a bad guess and ceded control to challenger Mark, who went back and selected the Daily Double in THE 1920's $800.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:54 pm 1986-03-10 (Barbara Lowe Game 3) is now in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7561

But then Mark got the Daily Double wrong. So maybe it was good strategy on Barbara's part?

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Barbara Lowe game 3 is now the third game in the Archive with a clue about the Native American sled the travois. It's been a triple stumper every time.
(I'm grinding away at the last India Cooper tape game, to get that finished before entering some of these older games.)

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Hard to say whether her argument saved her the game, though it certainly saved her at least a few thousand. If the initial ruling stands, FJ scores are Barbara $4,800 to Ed's $3,900, and we can only speculate whether "all in but $100 from second place" was always going to be Ed's FJ wagering strategy (in which case she wins with $1,799 instead of $5,399), or if a non-crush would have led him to a bet that would take advantage of the triple stumper.
I always thought that L&L clue was a Daily Double. But looking up the relevant passage from Harry Eisenberg's book I see he never said it was; I remember a post by Eugene Finerman on the Sony board about the incident, and maybe he said it was a DD, but I can't look back at it. I know for sure nobody ever mentioned another contestant rebounding, so maybe I just read between the lines and made an assumption based on stories of her immediately being corrected by Alex (and immediately correcting him back).

Player pics of David Shane, Lynne Harden and Barbara Lowe:

Barbara had a few moments that were a little over the top along the fine line of over-exuberance and obnoxiousness vs. standing by two opponents. Nothing came across as Alex minding the energy Barbara displayed.

Error in spelling in the 2nd place prize description for Barbara's 4th game. (Delta, not Delat.)

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
I've brought this up on other sites in the past, but I've had a theory for a while that Sale of the Century champion Barbara Phillips could have been another one of Lowe's aliases.
The years are somewhat close and the faces/hair look mildly similar; anyone else want to weigh in? Or do I need to take my meds?

Wasn't trying to blame it on anything.

I hoping some clips of her finer moments might show up.
