While that could be "bad news" for the Davies tournies, syndication ratings have many factors. The ratings could be seen as better than the previous year by the fact that Jeopardy's ratings gap over WoF increased by 0.1.
Ok, bad ratings have continued and I think it *is* a Jeopardy decline. The WoF gap has narrowed and Family Feud's ratings are steady year over year. Ratings are down ~9% from last year.
Imagine being the 2nd-most watched non-sports show on US television after 60 Minutes and claiming that ratings are bad. Give me a break.

Also: you're completely discounting the fact that ABC's running football every single Monday. Feud isn't affected by ABC's football choices.

If it's every single Monday, why haven't the ratings risen from Sept to Oct like normal? Both months had Monday night Football.

Because last October, MNF was on ESPN? This year it's on ABC because ABC literally has very little else it can air.

11/13/23 "Who is
Spoiler
Emily Sands?"
(Diamonds CWC winner) (51:32)

Sarah & Michael Davies host with no Buzzy

Hearts has finished taping and S39 SCC will be taped before holiday break and then taping of S39 CWC.

The writers are back and the ToC will have largest field ever. 16-17 weeks of regular play will end the season.

Michael was in New York on Hudson St. and by chance saw Matt Amodio coming the other way. Matt had moved the day before from Cambridge. Outside eaters were surprised to see the chance encounter.

Michael mentioned the cultural barriers thread on Reddit about how not so many international versions of J! compared to Millionaire. Michael said besides the UK & Australia versions of J! there will be Scandinavia in Sweden, Denmark & Norway as well as Spanish and perhaps German.

The taping for Celeb J! finals is completed and Michael teased it's tremendous.

9:35 This Week in J! History from 11/17/21 and Amy's first win against Andrew He.

12:00 The 11/6 week of games:
Spoiler
Jilana went from SCC to CWC for Finals again. Brian was a good sport about "Repubic".

F1 was Jilana's best game yet worst loss and Aaron Craig went to Reddit to congratulate Emily & Jilana.

Michael would love to have players like Jilana and other champs back on J! while also wanting new players to compete to find next great player.

Michael would like a J! index to rank all players.

A postgame chat was played and Jilana (due early Dec.) could feel kicking on stage and Ken was complimenting her.

In the Clubs QF if all finished with zero then there would have been a 3-way tiebreaker. Beginning of Clubs was first day back on set for Billy and Michele. Clubs QF2 had 7 lead changes in DJ! Round.

Sarah did receive a picture of Dennis' Alex Trebek memorial cellar doors.
19:55 Ask the host and does Ken go to pub trivia? It's awkward now for Ken to do that now whether he wins or loses. Ken jokes about wearing disguises to play trivia.

20:55 Chat with
Spoiler
Emily Sands
[CWC Diamonds winner] solo with Sarah as Michael had to leave podcast.

Emily finds J! both fun to watch and fun to play and she tries to have fun and just grin is part of it.

In Minnesota J! used to be on at 11 a.m. and Emily would try to stay home to see J! if someone like David Duchovny was on.
Emily took online test while missing the scheduled tests on some years. Emily got an invite for an in-person audition and had to turn it down because of a commitment to attend a wedding.

Emily got an audition invite as part of a J! Fan Fest and met Jimmy November 2019. Emily was noticed for taking a guess during mock game and she thinks that helped her get the call which finally came in Feb. 2021.

Emily played with Anderson Cooper than Bill Whittaker as guest hosts and as a journalism major in college it was awesome to play with them hosting.

After her games of three wins Emily kept an eye on the ToC Tracker and would cheer for long streaker winners. When Emily saw Buzzy hosting ToC she had FOMO.

For returning to J! in 2023 Emily was able to bring her husband and son (age 5) along after getting permission (from Sarah) for son when rule is usually age 8 and up to be in the audience. Dad had snacks to help son behave.

For original playing Emily did not know who host(s) would be and did not try to practice the buzzer timing. For knowing ken would host Emily did try to get used to his timing of reading clues.

Emily had multiple instances of her wardrobe not being approved to comply with no whites/stripes rules. She did not pack enough as did not expect to play four games. Emily had to place an online order at Macy's and then do curbside pickup with an Uber.

At first CWC rehearsal Emily feared Dave Pai with great buzzer timing and Jilana who had the prior tourney experience.

Emily admires Jilana's skill at playing while so pregnant as Emily felt she lost 10 IQ points when she was pregnant.

Jilana showed up at the taping with her practice buzzer (toilet roll holder) and a bunch of books.

Emily got emotional when realizing she had a runaway in her semis match.

For lunch Emily had salads & proteins when playing while having the poke bowl when not playing and had no issues with it. Sarah says Ken says he has never gotten sick eating the poke bowl. The three finalists ate lunch sequestered but could talk to each other.

Emily loves Mitch the sound guy and on original run after Emily's first game, he said to her, "Way to go, champ".

For the scoring change on corpus callosum there was a long delay. J! staffers were in the library researching, J! staffers on stage heard audio replays as well as trying to read lips as those in the booth handling the replays.

Emily would have saved them time if they asked her because she had learned it wrong as "coloskum" and would have said so. During the delay Emily asked Ken if he knew it and he said yes.

Emily knows she has months to prepare for the ToC and study weak areas after taking a break after the CWC. Emily will keep watching J! and has seen every ep. since she got a DVR in 2005.

Emily gives a mention about John Focht and his site.

Emily knows she does not have to ring in on every clue while also feeling bad for the host when there are TS clues.

Emily's proud stat in Ken calling her ToC caliber when Emily had 49 buzzer attempts in CWC game. Another proud moment is being in the red in the DJ! round in her last regular game but getting out of the hole to make FJ! round and get that clue right.

The Diamonds have a group chat called "The Botches" in nod to the NON -NAUGHTY WORDS category. In the group Heath Ledger gets a mention everyday in recalling T.J. trying more than once to guess him in the JOKERS category.

Emily's quote, "The real Daily Double is the friends we met along the way" was mentioned to close the chat.[/spoiler]

Next week: The 11/13 week of games as well as Celeb J! on the 15th with Culkin, Dratch and Lynch. The chat will be with Jilana.

I assume the mention of "German" would be a continuation of the revived German version that aired this year? Just a guess.

11/20/23 “Who is Jilana Cotter” (48:45)

Sarah & Buzzy host. Sarah will stay home for Thanksgiving and watch parade while Buzzy will be in Florida with family members who have moved to Boca Raton.

Ken & Buzzy read one short story a day.

3:40 – This week in J! history is from S29 11/20/12 when Colby Burnett won the Teachers Tournament.

6:55 11/13 week of games:
Spoiler

Emily Fiasco playing reminded Buzzy about Fiasco question when he was audience helper for Hannibal Burress on Millionaire.

Nick had recently visited the Liberty Bell and read the plaque.

Emily’s pub trivia group is “Let It Snow” in nicer terms than reading it the SNL way.

Buzzy played Trivial Warfare against Kit and he won.

Leah’s trivia partner is Sally Neumann.

Sarah loved the Hans Zimmer video clue and learning he was in the Buggles video.

Danielle beat Mattea first time on and Ken called her CWC win the Great Escape. Danielle knew she liked the category.
16:30 Celebrity J!
Spoiler
Rachel had 14R in the Triple J! Round. Ike will be in upcoming ToC and the new Celeb winner can be in following ToC.
19:00 Host question for Ken is Are there any Seattle Thanksgiving traditions? Ken jokes about herring pie due to former Scandinavian village, watching the Lions lose and watching the parade on tape delay.
Buzzy has never been to Seattle.

20:15 Sarah chats with Jilana Cotter.
Spoiler
Jilana was more nervous for games to air on TV than for playing on stage thought commenters online tended to be kind. When Jilana played the first time as Jilana Rose-Silverberg it was before she was married.

The taping ran late with Katie Couric guest hosting. Jilana took time off from watching J! after her match with Morgan Briles and Nick Cascone.
Nick had a study book with him at initial taping.

Jilana was flabbergasted to return and studied a lot using flashcards while also playing along with games standing up.

Jilana did get some clues right due to her studying. Yoshie was the opposite for no studying and relying on life’s experiences.

For SCC Jilana was able to have her mom in the audience. Jilana does not like doing math at the podium.

She and her opponents had not seen Hamilton to account for Aaron Burr miss.

Jilana was originally scheduled for November CWC taping, but moved to second group due to pregnancy.

Getting Boby Dylan right was dumb luck as she did not know Oscar portion.

Jilana’s miswager offered a chance for Dave to tie her. Jilana’s pregnancy maladies affected her during semis & finals of CWC. Jilana complimented Emily, the other players and the J! staff.

Jilana misread the F1 FJ! clue for country instead of capital city and can’t be 100% sure she wouldn’t have brainfarted the capital. Jilana wrote quickly and smiled while the J! staff thought she would catch her error in time.

Jilana knew she could have had $50,000 for 2nd guaranteed, but she wagered in wanting to play more J! She failed to calculate there was a way to wager less.

Jilana played every game in her career from middle podium. The Diamonds group got along well and her upcoming baby boy will have 26 aunts & uncles.

Jilana does not recall SCC lunch and for CWC had tacos one day and then to avoid heartburn had a chicken sandwich the next day.

Jilana’s proud stat is high buzzer attempts in a game (along with Emily) and Ken commenting it was ToC level. Jilana was glad she was not first to ring in on some stuff she did not know.

Jilana’s mom has been watching J! regularly for over 30 years and is in contestant pool. Jilana would like to be part of child getting on before parent. [Mark Barrett comment – It would not be unprecedented as Suchard daughter was on before mom]
Next week: The 11/20 week of games and chat with Aaron Craig. Celebrity J! is a rerun on the 22nd.

11/27/23 "Who is Aaron Craig?" (45:04)

Sarah & Buzzy host and talk about Thanksgiving leftovers, the holidays and decorations. When they taped the podcast it was the day before the taping of S39 Second Chance.

Sarah is very much aware about online chatter and contestants saying the full category name. It’s not etched in stone but it a guided suggestion. It helps fans at home who have trouble following the game and it helps the game board operator to insure the right clue is selected while avoiding using a replacement clue if wrong one is displayed.

The J! Fan Andy was mentioned for noticing that this season has 0 un-played clues.

Even without wildcard spots it’s still best for every player to have 61 opportunities to score.

Sam Kavanaugh feels the full category name calling takes away a useful tool for a player when having control of the board.

7:50 – The moment in J! history is 11/29/04 when Ken won #74 and went over $2.5M. Sarah was on a bus for a Clue Crew shoot when she found out Ken lost.

11:20 the Nov. 20 week of games:
Spoiler

Deanna out in public is given random facts while Buzzy is more often asked trivia to try to stump him.

Sarah mentioned that her younger daughter is a model for the J! onesie in one of J! store ads still seen.

The hosts enjoy the contestant’s tribute to Sam with the “Bring it” calls to end rounds. They also like it when all the contestants have over 40 buzzer attempts in a game.

Buzzy likes but does not love bow ties and noted Fred and Ed wore ones. Buzzy was going to wear an ascot in All-Stars finals if his team got there. Perhaps he will wear one on another show.

Dennis used to record books for the blind and that helped him with colors such as the azure DD.
20:20 Host chat question to Ken about favorite player to compete against. Ken liked close matches and James Holzhauer was like not human.

Buzzy answered for himself and named Jason Sterlacci as well as Alan & Austin from ToC finals plus Larissa (possible JIT?) from All-Stars. Buzzy regrets never having played against Ken.

Buzzy being eligible or not eligible was mentioned once again and Sarah says it’s not decided.

22:25 Sarah & Buzzy chat with Aaron Craig
Spoiler
Aaron defeated Sam Stapleton in his first regular play game after Sam had a big lead in the DJ! Round.

Aaron was an alternate in Dec. 2020 and got call again in Jan. 2021. At the Dec. taping the other alternate was already informed he would be coming back while Aaron had to wait for it.

The call for the CWC was unexpected as Aaron had no idea the event was coming. It took Aaron a quarter of a nanosecond to say yes. Aaron’s prep was to shore up weak areas and he tried For Dummies book about history & mythology while not getting to one about art.

Aaron says there are different ways to be good on J! He is more of a buzzer and strategy guy than knowing more than other players such as Jilana.

Aaron pays attention to scores and knew he needed DJ! 30 to lock CWC semis on last clue. He was fired up and pumped up with his kids in the audience. Like Buzzy’s run being divisive among viewers Aaron knows that not all liked his celebration.

When Aaron played in 2021 he was stiff at first and tried to loosen up by his third game. Aaron watched games shows as a kid in Canada and remembers Alex Trebek hosting one.

For CWC Finals #1 Aaron locked in his wager and then instantly regretted not wagering more. He was aware that the FJ! clues had been on the harder side and history was not his best subject.

Emily & Jilana were great on the buzzer including sports where Aaron thought he might have an edge. In the CWC Aaron’s buzzing percentage went down when he got to the finals. Finals 2 was a tough board and tough players.

For missing the Dune planet Aaron had even seen the recent movie and read the book a long time ago.
Roger Craig and Brad Rutter were others mentioned for not making it to a Final Jeopardy! clue in the finals.

The Diamonds group has given Aaron lifelong friends and they send each other more than 100 texts a day.

Aaron expects Emily to "wipe the floor" in the ToC and he saw a social media post that called her a combination of “golden retriever and contract killer”.

Aaron’s food choice was cheeseburger and fries on first day when he was not playing. Day two was some kind of wrap that was meh and he does not recommend it. Lunch for the finals was just with Emily & Jilana and he ate from the salad bar and had a protein with it.

Aaron’s proud stat is good buzzer percentage prior to the Finals and getting the Sleater-Kinner clue in regular play.

The best part for Aaron was playing J! and it’s a fun blur. He likes his comeback in that regular play game 1 and loves his Diamonds group. Aaron also mentioned he moved to L.A. in 1999 and one of the first things he did was to go the studio and audition for the show.

Next week: The 11/27 week of games and a chat with the Clubs winner.
Not mentioned: There will be Celebrity J! on the 29th and playing is Cynthia Nixon, Cedric the Entertainer and Heather McMahan.

I was considering skipping posting some of this because it is a lot of episodes to go through in one post. (i usually try to post after I catch up but when I saw the next few being over an hour I am just going to post them now) some are for a few episodes back but it seems this is not too active in the first place as of this moment. I am skipping Chris because that one had almost nothing, was a nice episode.

question answer episode

I love the questions and answer one. I love the joke about the "Pentagon" deciding the time even though I have heard that fact from the other jeopardy podcast. it was interesting to see Ken's friends be mentioned again though to mention it in terms of his becoming famous from the game is slightly harsh. (on the other Jeopardy podcast it was revealed that he was not allowed on the show because Ken "kept winning")

adding a history this week segment was a interesting addition. also with the host chat go in public there will probably be more unique questions. (even considering not everyone listens to the podcast)

so he likes second chance because he chose it great, Granted it is at least more realistic than this wildcard tournament. I guess we know why he did not completely think of it. (I actually think he's a OK producer I just enjoyed teasing) I am going to have to agreed on Brad with this, I hate wordplay categories. The seam in my opinion the Jeopardy game as a whole. (that might not be the most understandable way to phrase it but basically it does not belong in trivia) I have nothing against crosswords or word puzzles but stay away from jeopardy please. The episode where after this one he announces the writer are back, good and good. I will say that he said he wants to put original material back, depending on how he organises it in the middle of a tournament.

Being the reason we have a tournament in such a way was because it was not fair to have contestants have used material would that be the same the other way around, I understand why he would want original material but something I noticed. granted if this is added before wildcard began and was able to do everything during the end of Second chance the above might not be as much of an issue, i forgot it was a different tournament because this is only 2 episodes behind. (I made this a while ago before I found out they were excepting rejected clues , considering how long the show has been on and I never would have thought they will have gotten that desperate)

AndyTheQuizzer wrote: Mon Oct 02, 2023 5:24 pm Pray tell, what's going to happen to Jeopardy when linear broadcast television dies? What MD & Sony are doing is pivoting to a more viable long-term solution so it can still sell the show in a format that a streaming service is willing to buy in the future—because, quite frankly, syndicated TV is dying very quickly and there's no replacement for it under a streaming-only paradigm.

And that solution has significantly less regular play. The Jeopardy of 2018 is essentially dead and is not coming back. If that's a bridge too far for you, then so be it—it may well be for many. But the Jeopardy of 2018 isn't a viable production model for Netflix/Disney+/Amazon Prime/etc.—and so the show needs to fit into that model in order to ensure we still have something into the 2030s.
So syndicated game shows won't survive the transition from broadcast to streaming unless they're turned into reality shows?
Just what streamers need more of
well days of our lives is on Peacock in a serial format so it could be possible. (and there was one other soap they cannot remember the name that was successful on streaming but ended for the unrelated reason of copyright) problem with all of this The tournament of champions and all of these things for goodness sakes involve Champions or at least players. I said in the past that they would balance themselves out. that could be true with the original plan. with this plan it could be a problem. if he needs a reality show example think of the bachelor and the bachelorette.

Book back with the current plan first the better hope there is not going to be a super champion. (then we would have one player for the whole season) Second I still do not see how numbers if this goes to the middle of spring could even be possible.

The music approval situation was definitely interesting. I would admit it is some somewhat of a shock (in a good way) to be told as a YouTuber are that your song is going to be put on jeopardy. though I am kinda shocked that they even went through it and did not just say name the song only to the celebrity. (though it raises a few questions about the interview approval process)

I have enjoyed these few episodes but I wrote some of the stuff over the course of 2 months so consistency issues might be present. "we might have 16 weeks." if I wrote posts at a regular hour I would do the maths but considering that the cohost said it might be less. next season is going to be the shortest tournament of champions ever, even though not completely his fault. (in terms of the strike) he is way over his head at this point. hopefully something works itself out. I probably said somewhere but I will say again they probably should have just invited 1 seasons worth of champions not 2. (still it would be probably very big but this is unsustainable)

possibly since making a tournament for a past season is now a thing. maybe it might just be best to plan this wildcard tournament next season. it is kind of crazy but so is everything else. there is obviously going to be a lack of new champions anyway (Champions are made from playing games) minus well fill up the time with that. (oh after I made that I just realize he may have just made the first season in which the entire lineup is playing a tournament eight times in a row.)

we probably will not need champions wildcard the good news is because everyone that won will be in the tournament of champions. (which I guess is understandable idea to make all games tournament of champions relevant, if that's where he has been going this whole time. but even that is not a sustainable permanently) but seriously this is over the top. if they are ever going to do this again I feel they should focus very hard on making it as fast as possible, I enjoy seeing old players in healing some of their stories but a s38 tournament instead of s37 and 38 could have been done instead. - but I will also say I got this last paragraphs logic in the middle of the wee hours of the night.

I think the closest soap that would fit that description is One Life to Live, which was briefly revived on Hulu and iTunes via The Online Network in 2013 and had great ratings, but ended due to a lawsuit between Prospect Park (which produced the streaming revival) and ABC due to some characters from that show being used on General Hospital.

Dave Mayberry episode

it was cool to hear them talk about the Texas state fair. I would say they are very cool and worth travelling for. I have never been to the Texas one but I have been to others over the years. Nice to know I am not the only one. also imagining both her and Ken at the State fair is funny. Nice to hear about big tex since it burnt down leading to them having to do repairs. (it was also on farmer wants a wife last year and many other shows and movies)

I definitely agree Alex was good at keeping the game going along. which we discovered in Masters is actually difficult. I feel like they must have been something better to also be included in that weeks jeopardy history but I guess I have to save some for later years. I was wondering if the other contestants were allowed to watch the players and non-wildcard contests so it is nice to have an current answer on that. I love the way you doing wheel now situation. not because it did not make sense for the contestants to think that but because it must have been strange for the phone operator. The thing about taking photos of the photos in the contestants dressing room was hilarious in a good way. definitely them figuring out if it was even allowed to take photos. (I am kind of curious do they usually are now contestants to keep cameras or is this Contest a special exception) I would think they would have taken the cameras away. I love how he says he is proud to not live a what if. Time Square jeopardy, that would be amazing definitely did they did that during New Year's. 'New years jeopardy eve' (hearing the rocking Eve theme song in the background)

buzzy

wow, this one is long, probably due to the long buildup. usually I keep everything in the order of the episode but it was just too long. I also cut stuff and even explanations that was good but took up space.

When I saw the title of this episode I was thinking wow who approves of this. I was thinking usually someone outside of yourself should stop yourself from doing something well like this even if everyone occasionally wants to make some thing about them at some point. about costumes my family never did costume themes (we celebrated) but I love Halloween. (and the teachers from my grade school did themes)

now onto the interview. I actually understand why tournament of champions may not enter your mind after losing, losing enters your mind after losing. doing weird intros does get people angry. I am kinda shocked he did not think that through but he has a some excuse for the behaviour. I guess he did not sleep and that idea sounded a lot better when you did not sleep. (like this review)

I guess we have the answer about his emphasis on clothing. his father owns a clothing story. granted must be nice to have 'free' suits. (they probably have to pay for materials but you know what I mean) it also explains why his clothing expertise seems to be limited to suit items. (remember his celebrity Jeopardy category)

I will say is premade Flash Cards from trivial pursuit is a great idea if you do not wanna make all of them yourself. I have a few digs about the trading idea but I decided just to skip that. the card keepsake with the first day scores was also cool even though it was said before, I would prefer if he just talked about that story as his go to instead of pumping 'pick up' of his training regiment. I decided to put the stuff with ken the next one since that's when it gets good.

this is also from the buzzy episode though it is off topic enough to split it in half.

I had to listen to it three times to hear the word Brad in there. (I thought he said ratized which is why I listen to it) I would say I would not compare buzzy to that in terms of personality with Brad being more 'down to earth' but I never saw any of his game so who knows. (yes I know this was a recent game)

But the funny part is this is buzzy foreshadowing his thoughts to James. that would be interesting universe in which him and Austin and some of the other ones from those seasons did continue with more. A branch universe in which we saw more traditional or slightly untraditional champions rather than the shock we got after a James but I am happy is way with what we got. Well this episode did not have like the parent interviews from one of the earlier story of podcast. I think that is for the best as it seem to be going kinda strange when we last caught it on the other jeopardy podcast.

I have been wondering about the music executive part, I did not think he still has a day job after being on this podcast so much. (I mean that in a good way) it was nice to get a clear idea of what he does. it was nice to hear about Ken helping him choose to be on the chase. (even though I still think he buzzy a terrible 'username') granted I feel most do not realize it was taped one week 2 years ago. (my math might be off) I think that makes the timeline confusing, they do not realize they have not made episodes for over a year and he has probably been on the show once or twice. (if anyone has an idea of how much time they go to the studio that week it would be great.) that add from Ken saying that you were going to ignore your boring meetings and draw instead is surely something else. (definitely since it kind of indicates that he probably drew them during high school class) imagining Ken and buzzy going to Disney and Ken saying he has a bad signature do better is just hilarious. (and I almost feel almost personally sorry having a parent who yelled at me for my signature, long story) in the end it was done in a way that makes sense along with a timeline and not as I would fear become a long ramble like this post. The cohost kept it in a very straight timeline and was very point by point, I think this was the right way to go with this and hopefully stop hearing about him asking for one.

12/4/23 "Who is
Spoiler
Nick Cascone?"
(46:12)

Sarah & Buzzy host and first 18 players (2 weeks) of Season 39 Second Chance has taped to create 6 new J! champs. Those games will be first in S40 with all new material. On 12/19 when SCC begins there will be a new logo and new opening. The 19 boxes as Sarah calls them will be filled with behind-the-scenes things.

4:10 This week in J! history is 12/7/96 when SNL did the first Celebrity J! skit with Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds and Jerry Lewis. Overseas there are a lot of people who know of J! through SNL.

6:40 the 11/27 week of games:
Spoiler
Jen had 25R in F1 compared to 12R for Nick. Nick had the lead after the FJ! round and wanted champ's podium for F2. Nope, no switching, but leader does pick first to begin F2.

Dennis from Palm Springs had a lot of local media coverage and fans include Sarah's parents who live there.

CWC for Hearts begins with Rhone who beat Amy Schneider and won J! honors for best celebration.

Buzzy would have missed the Stonehenge clue and Nell had just visited there recently and still missed it.

The MAKING WAVES category was a replay and first time it had Sarah doing two Clue Crew clues. J! staff put together a reel of her wipeouts while trying to surf and give clues.

On Spotify ads 13:15-16:00

Josh Saak beat Tyler in regular play. The Donegan family has two daughters and mom on the show. Alisa lost to Sam Buttrey in Professors Tourney.

Tyler complimented the J! staff and Buzzy worked in "Hearts will go on" for this CWC group.
18:50 - Celebrity J! from 11/29
Spoiler
8 lead changes in the TJ! Round. Cedric joked about going from hosting WWTBAM to playing J! is a demotion though honored to be playing with Ken, "the GOAT, Tom Brady of trivia".

Cynthia & Cedric mentioned as good ones if Michael Davies has celeb players to return to play again.
20:35 Host chat question asking if Ken watched game shows as a kid. Ken cried going into kindergarten knowing he would miss Pyramid, Password & Match Game. Ken loved watching Family Feud and when his sister was born in 1979 he was happy they finally had a family of five to qualify for the show. Ken still watches game shows.

21:25 Sarah and Buzzy chat with Clubs winner:
Spoiler
Nick Cascone[/i] Very good audio for this segment and Nick easier to understand than some others from previous weeks.

Nick beat Jilana in regular play and she has only lost to ToCers when playing J! Nick was expecting nothing more in CWC than $5,000 for a day's work.

Nick got ribbing in green room for having study material with him. Nick stopped watching J! after regular play loss and thought he was going to win more. Nick knew nothing about CWC upcoming.

For CWC studying Nick bought Ken's Trivia Almanac. Nick looked at his buzzer statistics in archive and saw he had 5W in each of his games. In CWC he got it down to 2W and then 0W in finals.

Nick prefers lights to listening for buzzing in and his percentage went from 78% down to 30% in F1.

Nick had recently read the plaque at the Liberty Bell and his stepdaughter lives in Philly.

Nick liked the gap from playing in S1 resting to wait for Finals. Nick found playing from the lead in F2 better for him. Nick's F2 wager was a miscalculation had he had added Dennis' 3000 from F1 to his total going into F2's FJ! clue. Nick tried making a bet of more than he had and it had to be redone. He then thought he had to bet everything.

During the CWC Nick almost forgot his phrasing and says he can hear his wife saying, "Dude!" from the audience. Family is good luck charm in audience and better come back for the ToC. Family members also found it hard to watch from the audience as no control over Nick's playing.

When Nick was on first time the guest host was Dr. Oz and Nick mentioned he appeared as in actor in Titanic. From 1986-2003 Nick was a working actor with more than 75 movie/TV credits on IMDb.

After 9/11 Nick's acting career was affected and he lost representation. Nick went back to school at age 40. In the medical field he can help patients each day.

For studying for the ToC Nick's weakness is pop culture in the 21st century and his Clubs members will help him as they have a group chat.

Nick's lunch is a salad with mostly greens & croutons with some chicken that he does not finish as he prefers to play a little bit hungry. His drink is Coke Zero.

Nick's proudest stat is reducing his incorrect responses.

Nick talked about online haters wishing for the return of regular play and Sarah talked about it as well. They want people to understand that there are humans on J! and Nick is on what he calls, "Quixotic quest for civility in the online space".

Nick will will show up for the ToC with a larger hat size due to all the facts crammed inside his head.

Next week: The 12/4 week of games, Celebrity J! on 12/6 with Kyra Sedgwick, Mo Rocca, & Amanda Seales + a chat with CWC Clubs

Now that's a change I consider long overdue (seriously, was there any reason seasons 39 and 40 up to this point reused the season 38 graphics?). I wonder if the other graphics will be updated to match?

EDIT: Now that I actually paid attention to the "19 boxes" part, I may have interpreted it as a whole new intro instead of another variant.

for Josh's episode I was almost not going to publish any of the above even though I took hours on writing some of these since I acknowledge these are really old episodes at this point. but what josh said just adds my point in terms of how they could have just had this be a season 38 if they needed extra one with him basically saying 'honestly no I did not expect them to invite people'. yeah those definitely got the point. technically I understand there was a guy a few weeks ago who felt brokenhearted but that was because usually a season is after the summer hiatus not when the tournament of champions takes place. (and still season 38) buzzy suggestion of Taro cards was interesting, I feel like somethings got lost in all of this naming thing but it is what we got.

even Sarah had slip the tongue and said approximately hopefully we would never have to sort these again. I am going to be honest I honestly thought she said whiskey And this is the first time I actually went to the transcript to double check and Turns out the word was not about food. buzzy suggestion of Taro cards reminded me of how I made a fanfiction that was supposed to be like Skyler 5 also known as Taro kid. (a Japanese anime from the 1960-1970s I found randomly on YouTube) weird coincidence but who knows maybe it might be a clue one day. now onto the next episode with Lusy.

I have to agree at least the photo of him dressed up as Ken signed as Ken at least is slightly funnier. Yes we heard about your trivia experience with him because you made an episode about it on the other podcast. which you did not seem to feel warm about him on. (it was less than a year ago, did you think we were going to forget about it.)

I will say it and I will continue saying it as Brad is the luckiest player all around for jeopardy (that I know of) not just for questions and gameplay type of things but the only reason he was able to make them how many he did was there at the perfect time to have the title of not ever losing which would have been almost impossible today. (technically someone could die before there Second tape day or skip going and would be 'undefeated' but I do not want to go into that.) and the tournaments were only big (as in 2 million) at that time period which allowed him to rack up the amount of money he did. so yes he is the luckiest player.

I love let's make a deal I love the show I also love the price is right in that would be a funny thing to do list once on Jeopardy The come on down. granted a costume episode would be cool. I would say she played it off so perfectly when talking down Buzzy from doing come on down j style'their show is great we have ours'.

I cannot believe I have all of that before any interview. anyway with the interview I will say first let's not forget about Fleming's second I will admit I thought that jeopardy was going to end after Trebek. not because he's "the one and true host" type of stuff. (even though he is amazing) but it was a great place to leave the jeopardy legacy. (I will admit I underestimated never looking at any figures how popular Jeopardy was, I mean I like it I just did not think it had the popularity.)

anyhow there was probably less people taking the test at that time and thought I was just in there since it was already slotted pre-death. I would say given everything we have seen in the last episodes referring to Ken state of mind that must have been a weird day. I am a big Ken Jennings host fan but I will also say the first episode he was hosting his voice was not in the optimal range. "it is the things closest to us we can't see" is going in my quote book. (I put all my favorite quotes from books (and TV) on my phone. being an alternate on that day would been cool. I think that means she would have been there for the exhibition game too. (based on the count that was given from Ken)

in terms of planning if you know who you are playing in advanced, I have heard things on both accounts usually we hear planning in using it as advantage for the ultra top tournaments. (like goat) but you can definitely get scared and psyched out depending on how are you deal with that type of stuff. (and not just in terms of studying) sometimes anticipations for some people could be too much. granted it is not ll in which you can no attack peoples week spots offensively though IBM definitely took that approach. now that about is where I am up to in my podcast watching my queue with mohawks coming next.

I am not even on this episode but once I saw this quote I knew I had to comment. in terms of family size I am guilty of this as well. I know I am so giving my age now to exact level but I asked my parents to have another kid so we can go on family game night since all the families have to be families of 4. (my parents said they will get one of two specific cousin (since a lot of my family is way older than me) both from the same uncle to do it. at least I now know I am not alone on that one. Granted I was on the older edge of the spectrum and the show would have been over most likely ended but that did not stop me.

actually, I have been afraid to give the story because I did not want to look frivolous on the value of people and stuff like that but really I understand why you want to have the same amount of people in the game show but it definitely encouraged certain size families. even though I enjoyed family game night as a game and still like the format included in other shows like don't, probably should not have done siblings only in terms of contestant.
