Amy was in the opening graphic and the audience was shown once inside the studio. Otherwise, an opening similar to last season.

As known ahead of the airing, Ken was introduced as "the host of Jeopardy!"

The layoff did not hurt Luigi as he was more than ready to defend his title with 4/4 on wagering clues including +14K sweeping the DDs. A bonus was getting acknowledgement from Ken for doing an accent in the Sir categoy.

Right off the bat the writers were making the archiving more difficult with the Ralph Macchio category.

I matched the gentlemen on the FJ! clue to start the season on the right path and I quickly saw how to connect the dots.

Other things I've noticed.

- The guitar version of the new theme that's heard in the Inside Jeopardy! podcasts wasn't used. But perhaps it may be used in the show later on in the season. Similarly, most of you may remember back in Season 25, a rough draft of the then-current main theme was used for the first month, and then the version we know replaced the rough draft come October 2008. Same thing occurred with the "Think!" cue. For the first month, we had the leaky faucet Think music; and then on 10/13/2008, it was replaced by the piano lead version, which is still used to this day (it carried over to the 2021 package last season).

- The sponsors no longer appear on the lecterns at the conclusion of the game, thus Johnny doesn't say "promotional consideration provided by (insert company name)".

A new season begins: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7430

Weird J! round with 30R though 5W along the way getting there.

12 media clues. No wonder three clues were not revealed.

Is Luigi a fan long enough to remember the "Just wager $4,000" meme?

FJ was WECIB.

The audience seemed excited to be back. Looks like Luigi could be the first qualifier for the 2023 TOC. (I probably just jinxed him).

Ditto on FJ. (Probably) the only thing stopping Luigi is a bottom up challenger, he unquestionably has the knowledge base for an extended run.

Thanks to clt013 as there's a chance I miss I-10 without all those TD games that got me thinking about interstates.

Great to be back!

Roll Call: How many others just finished seeing the fifth season of Cobra Kai, like I did? P.S. I finally learned what "Kai" meant.

:( (astronomer) :D :D  on betting clues.
trash: Patrick Stewart, Snake, I-10. Rather clean boards.
Tim seemed to have a good knowledge base, but too slow to match Luigi.

I always heard that the buzzer unlocks after the last spoken word. In this game, the contestants seemed to ring in well before Ken finished the clues. Is that due to editing, or are they unlocking the buzzer earlier?

I've not watched any of it, and I'm not a fan of the original movie. The $1000 clue was the easiest in the category.
For FJ I wrote Notre Dame de Paris. 7 fewer characters... :)

Luigi certainly didn’t seem to suffer from the layoff. Generally good boards for me and a simple FJ. I precalled that 2 would get it and I wasn’t disappointed.

Today I learned that Hudson Bay is sometimes called Hudson's Bay. Good to know.

It’s more due to editing. There were quite a few technical issues throughout the morning taping session, so maybe it’s in part due to that?
