Sad to read this. In addition to what you mentioned, he was also (I think) the last surviving adult cast member of the 1958 Titanic film A Night to Remember.

Watched that movie last night and stuck around until the end to see (I'd forgotten) if McCallum's character survived.

Two adults in credited roles in that film are still alive: Jill Dixon, who played the newlywed Mrs. Clarke, and Gerald Harper, the 3rd officer on the Carpathia.

Brooks Robinson, longtime Baltimore Orioles 3rd baseman, consider to be one of the best defensive 3rd basemen ever, at 86. Somewhere around here I'll have to dig out my picture with him.

Please do, Andy.

This 5-minute MLB tribute includes all my favorite Brooks highlights from the 1970 World Series, along with the wonderful Sparky Anderson line about him that I've quoted more than once.

RIP to a true legend of the game. Thanks for the memories, Brooksie.

That was great, thanks! Fun just seeing Memorial Stadium alone. Anyway:

The Sycamore Gap Tree, which had stood for hundreds of years and was featured in the Kevin Costner film, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and in Bryan Adams' video for "Everything I Do, I Do For You", was cut down by a 16-year old boy Thursday morning in what appears to be an act of deliberate vandalism. The tree stood near Hadrian's Wall and was the last surviving tree from what used to be a grove adjacent to Hadrian's Wall. The tree won a British competition in 2016 and was named England's Tree of the Year.

He does have an Archive appearance, so ... Tim Wakefield, Boston Red Sox knuckleballer, dead of brain cancer at 57.

He has one of those surprising careers. He's got 200 wins and over 2,000 K's. He's third all-time in wins for the Red Sox, behind only Roger Clemens and Cy Young.

Aw, man. He and Roger Staubach were my favorite players while growing up in Indiana.

I just finished the final episode of Lost in Space earlier this week. I've been watching them in order in the middle of the night whenever I have trouble sleeping, so it's taken me two years to get through them. Sure, there were some awful episodes in seasons 2 and 3, but one's standards tend to be a bit lower at 3 a.m.

RIP, Mark Goddard.

That is sad news. It doesn't take away the fond memories of Major West losing his cool with Dr. Smith. June Lockhart makes another X on her poster of co-workers.

Yeah, some quite bad episodes in S2 & S3 ("The Questing Beast"), but enough good ones in the mix as well.
