Always fun to pick up some thing from the 4th podium such as gambling games and space guys. I can understand Patti having the wrong astronaut, but no rebound surprised me even if it was 60+ years ago.

Matthew played one DD and sure made it count to earn the runaway along with the luxury to bet big on the FJ! clue. Matthew still wins if he misses DD3, but his wallet would not be as bulky.

I matched the players on the FJ! clue as the palindromic word was enough to get me sailing to the solve.

Great debut by Matthew with fine buzzer work while new players can always throw off hot timing from the previous day.

A few minutes ago, some clown spoiled the result of this game on J!'s Facebook feed.

I'm not familiar with that Black Sabbath song, but I guessed it right as the only British bands I can think of that get labeled "heavy metal" and that were around at that time were them and Led Zeppelin; and I would have heard of it were it the latter.

I knew they wouldn’t, but the judges should have negged Anita’s pronunciation of “Brendan Fraser.”

I thought Matthew looked familiar. He’s an A Rundler in LL and on the Sobermetrics team in OQL (where I’ve seen him). Very impressive debut for him. I wasn’t at all surprised that FJ was a triple get.

Ditto on FJ. Mythology is not a strong category for me but this one came to me quickly, so I figured it would come to the contestants as well.

Same here. Once you get through all the gobbledygook and zero in on “ewe” it is pretty simple.

Thanks for the tip. He has listed Oxford as his college, which explains the cool cucumber accent (being ostensibly British). Language and Science are his top categories, which explained how confident he was with the science questions. I thought ozone might trip somebody up.

Mythology is my most despised category, but not my worst, and this one was easy peasy. Matthew may last a few days if his wagering is as good as his buzzering.

Patty was not heard from for a long time. I could have done a spit take at the two second warning response . They could probably implement that in college basketball. I hate the endgame in NCAA where the last 30 seconds takes twelve minutes.

The affiliate station that airs Jeopardy! in our market, for some reason, showed a repeat of the 4th day of the last Tournament of Champions today, which was very annoying. When I went to search for today's episode on YouTube, the only version I found kept skipping around, which was also annoying, so I played the game from the archives. From the looks of things, Matthew was a buzzsaw today.

I liked Patti and am sad to see her go.

A fairly simple FJ today. It was nice to see all three players get it, too. I'll miss Patti, but I'm interested to see how far Matthew goes. That was a really strong first game for him.

The $1000 clue in Toucan is seared into my brain thanks to how often Rio (or, more specifically, the looping DVD menu) played in the break room of my previous cashiering job.

I wonder if Ken's getting any flak on Twitter for how he pronounced Arceus in the Pokemon clue. I'm not as into Pokemon as I used to be (not helped by Scarlet and Violet being released in a very unpolished state), but the pronunciation of that particular pocket monster has always been a point of contention in the fanbase. It's a bit silly.
Spoiler
He pronounced it right. :p

I post whatever (but mostly mushrooms and nature stuff) on Bluesky.

I pre-called that the first clue in toucan would be about toucan Sam.

Same here when I did J!6 and saw the category there referred to Tuca & Bertie.
