If J! asked the nuclear sub clue each day this week I would like to think it would only go TS today as perhaps any other trio mix finds someone that knows it.

Tanya did 8400 +1000 on DD3 with Matthew at 9800 to play for second then get second.

The FJ! clue had me join the players and that one was sure advantage leader as no one could expect any kind position change there.

Another 3xer. Who knows, it could come down to money for who plays in November. Matthew seemed more vulnerable today than his previous wins.

I overthought it and guessed Gatling gun.

That was the first thought that came to my mind, but I fortunately course-corrected.

Not sure if Indianapolis is the "Old West". That's where Richard Jordan Gatling invented it. Relevant article. Similarly, this article on oldwest.org calls the Gatling gun "one of the most unused weapons of the Old West".

Given Tanya’s DD wagers and not going to the bottom row with time running out, I’d have been tempted to bet small from the lead. But Matthew played it safe and more importantly got it right for the win.

I started trying to think of a weapon but switched to the right item in time.

I've been to Homer, AK (and Homer, NE, for that matter). It has a long spit of land for their fishing fleet. The hotel I stayed at was at the end of the spit. I took a boat to get to dinner in Halibut Cove, which is only reachable by boat. Tons of bald eagles all over. Pretty interesting little town.

Yeah, I definitely overthought FJ. I guess I don't think of barbed wire as an "item", per se.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

She still shuts out Jesse if she wagers 2799 in FJ but I have no idea why she would bet $1 and not zero, if she's that skeerd of the category.

Easy Peasy. Barbed Wire for the slam dunk instaget. Did they think they were going to trip someone up going for a 1917 invention?
(edit) I think this was left over from the Celebrity Jeopardy! clue catalog.

Matthew looked a bit off his game today, but still managed a win. Not quite enough Lach trash for a 4th podium win, but it felt like it at times (not to mention the two missed DDs). FJ was an Instaget.

Small correction on DD2: the clue asks for the last name, so the correct response is simply "Groening" not "Matt Groening".

As one of the intersections between Jeopardy and global health, I was thrilled to see the WHO category - but devastated at the Triple Stumper on NTDs, probably the area I've worked the most on. I don't blame the contestants but my heart broke a little.
