Jerusalem

I’ve seen some Bond movies, but don’t need two hands to count them and Monty Norman did not help me get the FJ! clue right.

Solved the Friday FJ! clue with equal parts math symbol and society feeling

Have only seen about five minutes of a Bond movie so I skipped that box. Got FJ anyway despite never having heard of the composer.

Got Friday as a math question. Never heard of the other description. Thanks for the credit in the quiz.

Haven’t been to Canterberry. Knew it was Becket but not where he died.

I said Runnymede (knowing it was wrong) on Tuesday. Its historical year is closer than that of Hastings to the year in the clue, but loses to it by The Price Is Right rules. Inequality on Friday, but I have heard "less than" in that way. Never been to Canterbury or Morocco.

edit: said "knowing it was wrong" a second time outside the parentheses

guessed Mauritania on Monday. Still think Friday's clue was slop.

3 crucial DDs the contestants had problems with--got 'em all. 8-)

Got Friday's clue solely from the math symbol. No hablo leftism.

Thu - 'Monty Norman' was sufficient
Fri - I'd say equal parts, because you'd need the social aspect to distinguish between 'less than', 'greater than' and 'lambda', but you need the math bit to narrow it down that far to begin with. At least 50%+1 feeling I've heard 'less than' used in the social context as well.

Sure, why not.

Never seen a James Bond movie all the way through (I'm not really into spy movies), but I've seen parts of them. If I had to watch a single one, which one is the best pick?

Francium was basically a guess, but I enjoy reading about the periodic table.

I'm a fairly liberal person, but I think of "inequality" over "less than" when it comes to such societal matters.

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions on the Bond question, everyone. I already have a backlog of movies to catch up on, but I'll keep Goldfinger in mind for sure.

Got Friday from the math angle with no confidence, figuring there was probably a technical name for the symbol.

Have set foot in Canterbury Cathedral but not in Morocco.

Have seen all the Bond movies, except for Octopussy and The Man With The Golden Gun. Amazon Prime documentary on the music of the Bond films a few months ago helped solve this one.

You can't go wrong with Goldfinger. It's basically all the Bond tropes and references you'll need.

Agreed.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is very good, too, even if it is Lazenby's one-off.

Yeah, I'd go with one of the early Sean Connery ones. They've pretty much been milking the same formula ever since.

I think the Connery movies are the iconic Bond movies, especially Goldfinger. I’m also partial to Thunderball. If those are too retro, I’d probably suggest Casino Royale as an introduction to the modern Bond.

I'm personally partial to Thunderball over Goldfinger, but if you're going to watch -one- Bond movie, you have to have a gadget car.
The Spy Who Loved Me would also be a good one. Villain's not as great, but it does have the best henchman.

Austin Powers on Thursday. I guess I figured that if Bond had a personal theme, I'd know it, or at least know the composer's name.

1170 was enough. Ironically, I once was asked what was the current year and I couldn't pull 1970. But I've come a long way since then.

I went with "less than" for lack of promising alternatives, but figured there'd be a more technical term for both things. And wasn't there a more helpful word than "rotated"

I've read more of James Bond than I've watched, but that's a game I play, reading the books of popular movies and waiting for them to come up in conversation.
I'm smart and I want respect.

I wanted to pick Morocco, but did not know / think of it as a kingdom. I don't think of Egypt as a kingdom either, but I know the Romans were there so I went with it, which is not west of Morocco.

I never heard of the event with Becket. The name rings a bell, but I didn't know he lived a thousand years ago.

I've been in Morocco for a total of 45 minutes in the early 80's. We took the ferry over and were so beleaguered by one of the forcibly imposed "guides", that we got out before our kidneys could be stolen. Tourists on arriving ferries were mauled on landing with local hustlers offering "free" guided tours of the market.
Also have seen the Canterbury Cathedral and almost certainly visited it but I remember nothing. We did get out with our kidneys.
Lara's theme was the only competition for the Bond song, and I know damn sure it isn't staccato as it was the first song I learned on mandolin. Trilly, yes, staccato, no.
Inequality is the OG of the correct answers for the Friday Jeopardy. "Less than" is only acceptable because it is trending. I never heard it used and if anything I think it diminishes the real issue which is inequality.
Spoiler
I did like learning that Smackdown came from WWE.
That was worth the category creation and was the highlight of the Turd Friday boards.

:( :( :(

Just went completely blank Monday.
I just said Canterbury Tuesday. I checked the box on the poll, but I'm not sure. Anyway, when I went to London, we were supposed to swing by Canterbury on the way back to Dover, but it was snowing that day and travel was already miserable enough and we all just wanted to get home. So I never made it.
Seen all the (Eon) Bond films except the latest. "Monty Norman, composer of this character's theme" was enough.
The math part of the clue helped me more, but society feeling was important to decide less was more likely than greater.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

When I was a kid, I attended Saturday matinee triple features of Bond films, and I loved 'em....I'm not sure I ever saw a Dalton or Brosnan Bond. (George Lazenby is underrated!) The last one I saw was Skyfall. I'm ambivalent about catching up, but I started watching Dr. No yesterday (streaming on HBO Max!)...
I don't recall hearing Friday's phrase used this way. It seems it's most often used by those speaking for groups.
