Re: Wednesday, March 29, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Happy birthday to J!'s Sarah although 0/3 on the FJ! clue would not be her birthday wish.
A REAL LONG SHOT was a sports category and well-played by two of the players with the clues.
Lisa leaving law for an undetermined new career should try comedy as she is funny without trying. The facial contortions alone are a hoot. 2/2 with FJ! responses bringing a laugh has me looking forward to a third one tomorrow, though only if the situation calls for it.
Lisa's odd wager for the FJ! round leaves poor Iris stuck with the "What If" game since a $0 wager would have prevailed.
Famous name for a civilian contestant tomorrow with a Sharon Stone playing. The movie title puns will write themselves.

I hope she has a total recall of what she's studied and trusts her basic instincts.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 1:36 pm Famous name for a civilian contestant tomorrow with a Sharon Stone playing. The movie title puns will write themselves.

trash: The Count of Monte Cristo ,
Hejira, navigation, Panama Canal, Oakland, Poplar
betting:
Lit is hardly a wheelhouse, so if I can get this, no reason the players can't.
And what is up with the NYC-based FJs, writers?

Re: Wednesday, March 29, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Missing seven clues (FJ included) is still tough going, but getting ten more correct than yesterday is a considerable improvement for Lisa.
I wouldn't normally favor putting a joke response when money is at risk, but I'll give Lisa a pass this time because dang, way to outdo yesterday!
The Second Chance field is already loaded, but I won't complain if Iris is there, even though...

...yeah, not a big fan of today's wagers! Lisa's may have been a math goof, at least.

She'll probably lose tomorrow. There are worse things in this world, anyhow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What's your thinking there? You think she intended to wager $2 less so that she wouldn't fall below Iris's $0 bet?

Re: Wednesday, March 29, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
That's the possibility I thought of, though I'm not confident about it. I will admit that I didn't think much about wagering strategy before I started watching the show more consistently.Robert K S wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:08 pm What's your thinking there? When the category was revealed, I pre-called my winning response from my Oct. 3, 1996 game. And sure enough, good old Washington Irving pops up again!

Lisa's a lot of fun.
Iris is from Rockville, MD which is also where the NRC is headquartered.
Early 1800s ... New York ... let's go with Irving.
