Poll quest:
For Wednesday's FJ!, I correctly figured out the film in question as The Hunger Games.
For Wednesday's FJ!, I got FJ! correct despite thinking that the film in question was Brave.

"franchise" in the wording can help steer away from Brave even though that path works.

Re: Wednesday, May 31, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Kyle could have led for the FJ! round, but the presidential miss that gave Ilhana the gift-wrapped rebound changed things.
Lisa had me neutral on whether the FJ! category would be good for her while I felt I had enough information on Kyle and Ilhana to think SPORTS & THE MOVIES was not going to be a dream category.
It's the kind of category that can strike fear into a contestant while being easy for any one person to know if it is favorable. Ilhana acted accordingly and in this case I do understand not betting even a buck.
In 2013 I missed this FJ! clue:
#6712, aired 2013-11-19 THE 2012 OLYMPICS: NBC reported that in the first days of Olympic coverage, this sport seen in recent books & on film was the most watched on cable
Today, it was nice to get a little redemption with a category that made me beam with joy and confidence. I spent think time with my pen down and just waiting to see who would write what Kyle and Lisa ended up going with for the responses.
The possibility of a $400 winner was there as Ilhana had farmed DD1 and bet more than the standard $2K on DD3. Nope, repeat champ and the remind alike I get from Ilhana is Claire Sattler.

Good FJ clue.. didn't get it.
I'm surprised they finished all the clues (with a video category too)

I count two responses declared correct either prematurely or just flat out wrong today. There were two Presidents Harrison, and I didn't hear *either* first name or a BMS, and an "intranet" is not the same thing as an "internet". (I would have gladly accepted LAN instead.)
I'm getting serious Angie Harmon vibes from Ilhana; some of the sharpest cheekbones I've ever seen on those two women!

Not in a category titled 8-LETTER WORDS, I would hope. Personally, I heard "intranet" on that one.da Doctah wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 3:14 pm I count two responses declared correct either prematurely or just flat out wrong today. As for "Harrison" — I heard something that sounded like part of "Henry," followed by Kyle stating "Harrison," and Mayim saying "yes, Harrison." I also thought that should have merited a BMS, and the contrast between that and the handling of "Adams" seven clues later was stark. The Archive records the response as "Henry Harrison"; I've submitted a correction suggestion to add "(William)".

59 R (Did not get Florence Pugh.)
DD: 3/3
FJ:
Did Kyle really say Henry Harrison? That should have been a neg.

what a bold wager in pole position!
I actually lived on the street with the name, Vicente Blasco Ibanez, when I was in Valencia this year. I also snapped this pic of him while at a museum.
Sure helped.

This game is a win for the Strong Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "big." --Bob

It sounded like Kyle was close to completing "Henry" without completing the "Y" and then switched to Harrison. Mayim confirmed with Harrison with neither Mayim nor Kyle saying William.LucarioSnooperVixey wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 3:34 pm 59 R (Did not get Florence Pugh.)

If the judges took the response as "Henry Harrison" why would that be a neg?

After drawing a blank on the FJ answer, I asked myself, “why is Geena Davis in this clue?”. Then I remembered her attempt to qualify for the Olympic archery team, and everything clicked.

I kind of wish we had some indication of what Benjamin's middle name might have been, or if his grandfather ever went by his own middle name as some people are known to do. (Or for that matter if anyone ever actually addressed him as "Tippecanoe".)mfc248 wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 3:31 pm As for "Harrison" — I heard something that sounded like part of "Henry," followed by Kyle stating "Harrison," and Mayim saying "yes, Harrison." Say, that'd be an idea for a board category: Presidential Aliases. You could make the contestants correctly identify Presidents King, Blythe and Soetero from secondary clues.

How about ‘thought the movie was Avengers, wondered why that would influence women to take up archery, but went with it bc of the Geena Davis connection’?LucarioSnooperVixey wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 1:07 pm Poll quest:
