I also wanted to mention that in the Chaos rundle, I finished 2nd-worst in DE (0.291), missing out on the "championship" by 0.005 points.

Is that a misprint? I didn't even think it was possible to have a DE that low.

Ha...no misprint. The goal in the Chaos rundle is to give away as many points as possible, so you aim to have a low DE.

Part of what makes it the 'chaos' rundle is that everybody seems to have different goals. I was just trying to give away as many 3s as possible

This is probably a good thumbnail description :). It's appropriate that bizarro, tank, and chaos all apply. The beauty of this is that it is a level playing field whether everybody participates at the same objective or not. And us mudbloods get to hang with some sharks now and then ;) .

I'll catch up the official spreadsheet soon and include the DE metric as well. It is an optional extension of the simplified game of handing out the 3's, which is kind of like a Lite version of full blown bizarro play. Sburrus won (lost) the official competition because the twelvefootkin are considered NPC's . He also was ahead at the MD18 point by one three pointer.

I stayed pat in Waterfront D3 with a loss that took me to sixth instead of a win that would have held me in fifth for a possible surprise promotion to C. (I think that happened to me once previously, didn't end well :)). Free jazz was my first answer and I changed it to jazz fusion thinking maybe it was the same thing with a name that evolved. I only derped a handful of answers this season so no complaints.

This season I set personal records for Most Consecutive Non-Wins, Most Total Points Allowed, and Most Correct Answers Against this season, so it's no wonder I'm dropping back down to B.

Opponents scored 9(6) against me 9 times, and I had 7 losses and 2 ties in those matches (and one of those was actually a 9(5)-9(6) tie).

I won my MD25 match to finish 9th in my D rundle. Best part is I get to see a W every time I open my page for the next few weeks.

As threatened, here's the first take on the tank/chaos/bizarro results:

mahatma took ass and kicked names in the 7/9th's final round handing out TWO 3 (1)'s in a row (which are worth double) and ran the table from MD20 on. No one else could harvest a bonus 6 pointer from the other 7 chances. The surge was enough to come from behind and edge out Sburrus in the basic game.

3rd trimester results MD19-MD25 (spoilered for space)
Spoiler
Congrats Sburrus for your 31 pointer Dawkins. Twelvefootneph won (3 way tie) the Waterfront Dawkins with 27 MCWA, and now I know why his TCA was one of his worst seasons. You also extinguished yourself well with your DE in the tank rundle.

150 threes were handed out from the intrepid ten tankers. The Ronin were particularly feisty this time around and placed four of the top six overall. I think it's because of the family motto to start slowly and then gradually taper off .

The final grade card, and the dirty scarf goes to mahatma. Worse luck next time
Any new boardies want in on the stench, just PM me for LL99 :).

I could've gotten up to 10th in the Xena 1-Day...if I considered not-watchers were playing. "Joxer the Mighty" the SECOND HARDEST?! I've had that freaking earworm stuck in my head for twenty four plus hours now.

Got a surprise from the recent 1DS on American Slang. I will normally submit if I know at least five answers (which might be a quarter of the time). I answered five questions about slang, left seven blank -- and finished in the 84th percentile.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

The LL99 tank/chaos/bizarro rundle is open. I promise we will not have any Taylor Swift sightings.

All boardies welcome to come and make your own fun with our motley crew of sharks and chum. Standard CalvinBall rules apply. You are welcome to invite cohorts also providing they don't follow any rules :).

I will shamelessly start a new post with LL99 heading. I've been unreliably off the board a lot but will try to attend to any questions.

AFRET CMS wrote: Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:57 pm An interesting season. I've never been anywhere but C, but I bounced in and out of the promotion zone several times this season. First time I ever had even a sniff of a possibility of B. Was in 6th place after MD 23, and moved up to 4th today, one slot out of promotion. But, number 3 is four points ahead. If I win and he forfeits on the final match day, I miss moving up by 1 point.

I've always wondered what it would be like in the rarefied air of the level one step below the major leagues. I was hoping to find out if spectators got chair back seats instead of bleachers and if I got an airplane ride instead of sitting on buses between matches. I don't think I'll ever make to The Show, but it might have been nice to have a cup of coffee with a top farm club. Maybe some day.
Not sure what happened, but I just noticed that the LL99 assignments are out, and I'm in B Waterfront. I double-checked, and I did finish out of the promotion zone in LL98. The three who finished above me are also in the same rundle, so it's evidently not because someone is sitting out a season. Guess I'll relax, enjoy it, and get ready to get spanked.

The CalascioneJ Branch of players moved into the new Labyrinth Rundle and took at least 5 players out of B Waterfront. I'm guessing quite a few C players moved up.

No asterisk needed for this promotion. You had 3 "A" players hogging the promotion spots due to the mismatches when Thorsten created the WTF rundle.

You can always take solace in the threes you will reap in the tank99 rundle. But for now you are in last place ;).

Yup. About an hour after I posted the original, I got an email from LL that said in part,
Thorsten wrote: To account for attrition, populate the newly formed leagues, fill all Rundles A and B to the 26-player level (minimum), and give all Rundles an even number of players, you may find yourself in a higher Rundle than what you qualified for based on your most recent finish.
Now I know what a player in an expansion draft may feel like. Happy to be there; slightly concerned about the cannon fodder aspect. But the only way is up -- since the initial standings list is alphabetical, I'm currently in the relegation zone even though it's a 28-way tie at 0-0-0. :)

I remember that when I finished outside of the promotion zone in B Badlands in LL80, I was relieved since I thought, "Next season might finally be the time I win a rundle." Instead, I got promoted back to A since enough branches had left and they needed to keep the A rundle at 26. I somehow still managed to win my rundle in LL81, like Leiceister City winning the EPL around the same time. I hope you win B Waterfront.
