Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Tough for game for Emily taking a skunk segment and missing her DD. Brandon ran CANNES PALME D'OR WINNERS to impress Ken with his movie knowledge.
Nick got an audience shot of his wife and his son as that is a common chat story about taping during the pandemic and now having guests.
Ken gave a, "Whoa!" while my reaction included an expletive in unbelieving the country singer guy with a pic went TS. It's amazing the show had three champs that could let that clue get by them. Very weird.
Today's match was 1x Nick vs. 2x Emily vs. 3x Brandon. The winner? The 1x, naturally. Plus, I've noticed Nick has some posting action on Reddit
There is no rule that the FJ! clue has to be solved instantly as I was way off base to begin with thinking about the Bastille and the key. Getting to the right country and knowing it's not the Statue of Liberty got me on the right path.
Brandon played originally with guest host Aaron Rodgers. Like the QB in 2023, Brandon is done after one game.

Now I'm wondering who it is. (Even if it was a TS, it couldn't possibly be TS, not that you'd call her a country singer anymore.) Looking forward to the Archived clue.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 1:31 pm Ken gave a, "Whoa!" while my reaction included an expletive in unbelieving the country singer guy with a pic went TS. Archived. Yes, he's younger in the picture, yes it's a monitor clue, but still odd to get by all three players. I'd love to see a video of the green room reaction on it.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 1:36 pmNow I'm wondering who it is. My 2 guesses were two new-ish Rock and Roll HoFers, but I actually kind of understand the miss. As soon as I scrolled to the clue though, I knew it was the one.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 2:05 pmArchived. Carl Sagan was a big influence on my pre teen years so that was an enjoyable category, but I’m thinking the response to DJ21 needed a BMS. In the heat of the moment I might have said Voyager 2 simply because it did more.
And great FJ wager from 2nd place.

Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I agree, but I wonder if Brandon decided to punt FJ on the assumption that his winning was dependent on Nick getting it right. While true, I can’t see sacrificing $199 when the leader could have made a math error. Or maybe he decided there was no way in Hades Nick was missing that Teen Tournament FJ so he might as well express his gratitude to the show giving him another $5,000.

I had a similar reaction. I get that not everyone is a country fan, and the song in question is now 30+ years old, but a picture of arguably the most successful country singer of all time, along with a mention of his signature song, is an odd candidate for a TS. I guess they got an incomplete musical education at home. I blame it all on their roots.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 1:31 pm Ken gave a, "Whoa!" while my reaction included an expletive in unbelieving the country singer guy with a pic went TS. Sprinkles are for winners.

Was there anything more to "Quick Cities" than the clues were fairly terse?
Strange that Brandon didn't even hazard a guess on FJ. Does it seems to anyone else that that's happening more often lately?

Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
My pub trivia team (multiple-choice questions all, on tablets) had a question tonight that basically came down to "which of these five things is an insect?" and they had centipede as one of the choices. Went through a whole thing about how it was an annelid, two of the others were arachnids, and another was a mollusc, so solved by elimination. Wouldn't have worked if they're considered insects.
And now, just six hours later, I can't remember specifically what the right one was, other than that it *was* an insect.

The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I don't think centipedes are annelids either.da Doctah wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 3:35 amMy pub trivia team (multiple-choice questions all, on tablets) had a question tonight that basically came down to "which of these five things is an insect?" and they had centipede as one of the choices.
