Laughing at the thread having over 600 views before anything of substance was posted. When the early YT upload does not come through things get delayed and people lose their minds.

Kit was the 3x from original play and won to beat the 2x Henry and 1x Leah. The path to get there was all over the place. Henry was 3/3 on DDs so did have the lead, as he should, but a TS FJ! clue came up at the wrong time for him.

I managed to come up with a 4th miss, not matching any of the contestants, and wrote National Archives. I did the math to get to the right item, but did not connect the dots from there to go the proper way.

In hindsight, the better way to get there might have been 1926+17=1943 = bicentennial of (the correct response's) birth.

I disagree. You can expect to know the importance of 1776, not 1743.

Not a great gameplay or wagers. I thought Leah played the best, but what are you doing stand-and-stare on that last category?

I wasted time adding the 17 to 1926. Once I got 1776 I also thought of the Washington Monument but remembered it was built in the 19th century. (I think it was delayed by the Civil War). Even thought of Mt. Rushmore (right timeframe) then I remembered the category. Finally got it right late. My scribbling on the paper might not have counted on stage but I’m checking the box Saturday.

The wagers…

Interesting Cliff Clavin was mentioned in the interview and then we had a category about actors’ real names.

Yeah. Leah showed a lack of wagering theory during her original run so it sadly is not surprising. Regarding Henry’s wager, I’m going to speculate he visited a dispensary the day before taping.

Which included, at the $2000 clue, one of the three who Clavin claimed had never been in his kitchen.

Coryat: $44,600
50 R/1 W
DD: 3/3
FJ: :(
LT: Salome, Crawford, St. Christopher, St. Bernadette

That was some of the craziest anti-DD hunting I've ever seen. Tons of going to places where DDs weren't likely to be found. Then with only two categories left, Henry tracks one down. Ken even said "we finally found one," as if to emphasize that there was one still hiding on the board. Henry doubles up but then stays in the same category! Then, after clearing that category and calling the $2000 clue in Bride's Head, he inexplicably goes to the top of the category! I'm glad no one else was in the house to hear my exasperated screams.

And then there was the FJ! wagering. Leah: "Got to bet it all." No. No, you didn't.

I knew FJ! was neither the Lincoln Memorial nor the Washington Monument, but the third DC presidential memorial never occurred to me. I went with the National Mall.

Beat me to it! I also thought it was interesting that one of the pairs with a shared last name was no coincidence. Jamie took the second half of his stage name as an homage to his comedy idol, Redd. (He deliberately chose a unisex first name, as he found women often got moved to the head of the line at open mic nights.)
Sprinkles are for winners.

I did the math for 1943 first and that didn't help me, then I went 1926 - 150 and got to 1776, but the only landmark I could think of was Independence Hall, and WASHINGTON, D.C. as the category steered me away from that (plus, you know, Independence Hall already existing). So what's a Declaration of Independence–related landmark in D.C.? I managed to think of the Jefferson Memorial (I can thank The Simpsons for my knowledge of its existence) and decided it was the best I could think of. After the music was over I realized that 1743 sounded familiar as a birth year for Jefferson.

Kit overwagered too, but all-in from second can conceal a multitude of third place wagering sins. What would have been really wild is Kit leaving herself below $1,399, which would have made Henry's overwager consequential also.

Enough said about those FJ wagers. Oy! I was all over the place on FJ. I did the math, pondered the significance of 1776, thought about DC landmarks and finally settled with little confidence on the Jefferson Memorial. Would I have had enough time to write it down fully? Not at all sure.
