Correct response:
Spoiler

Chat bailed out Deb a bit for identifying the pic of a male figure skater as a female gymnast in explaining they lost their glasses and did not get a replacement.

Yes, youngish people are not going to know who to connect to Wired. No big shocker on that one.

We'll see how LSV does with both TV CHARACTERS & FROM PAGE TO SCREAM for his favorite combo of TV then movie clues.

The FJ! clue not for me as I went Hannibal with Chianti to have something on my paper.

Deb tried to get to 42,200 while Jesse tried to get to 43,001. If Jesse had stayed pat then 23200 would have beat Deb's 21600.

The other what if game for Jesse is only finding one DD and whether he would have solved DD1 & DD3.

Mira bet it all and it would seem the strategy was $25,000 costly.

ToC starting on a Friday.

Code: Select all

Deb: 21600 10300 31900 42200
Jesse: 2800 20400 23200 43600
Mira: 2800 5600 8400 14000
Jesse: Bet $19,001 to cover Deb.
Deb: Jesse is behind your cumulative total and will fall behind your day 1 score if he covers you and misses. Bet what you want, perhaps less than $8,700 to force him to be right to win.
Mira: You can't reach Deb's day 1 score, but you could take second place by staying above where Jesse will fall on a cover wager and miss. Bet less than $4,200.

I basically matched the contestants with, "What is ... uhhhh ....?"

Full points to Jesse, though, for just saying, "What's in your wallet?"

Hill and Mountain are not the same thing.

Collinina confused the heck out of me.

Would have submitted Chianti as my response. points for Tuscany, I guess.

Deb's max cumulative total was $1,400 below Jesse's. If only their score had been $700 higher somehow... (The end result would have been the same, but still!)

Having been to that area didn't help me. I said Pisa.

Funnily enough, I think Deb's QF game aired on the first taping day of the 2024 ToC? Regardless, they should definitely be able to get a few pairs of glasses with their 100K.

Also, with Deb being the last CWC winner:

-three CWC winners won three games in their original runs (Emily, Josh, and Yungsheng)
-two CWC winners won a single game (Deb and Nick)
-one CWC winner came all the way from Second Chance (Juveria)

Future two game winners: work extra hard before the next CWC(s)!
"Everything ends. Life goes on. I'll be gone. So will you. So hug people tightly. Take joy in their heartbeats and drink something cold and go play in the shade. That is all." -Bob Harris, Prisoner of Trebekistan
-
I post whatever (but mostly mushrooms and nature stuff) on Bluesky.

I’ve been to Monticello (the one in Virginia) but also had Pisa.

I said Siena too.

I noticed Archduke Ferdinand was accepted again as an answer. I wonder if using any of his other middle names would have been acceptable, like Archduke Joseph Maria, or using just middle names for other famous people?

Great finish on this game/match! Congrats to Deb!

I also failed to pick up on the "little hill" clue. Boo.

I kept thinking Piedmont, but knew that wasn't a town. Never got anywhere close to going from there to Monticello.

Failed to pick up on it or didn't know how to translate it? Is there anything else helpful in the clue at all? I say this as one who failed with it utterly. I note that to Google Translate cello in Italian renders in English to...cello. (monticello comes out to...mound... I imagine Jefferson used sources other than Google Translate... )
