For those with Apple TV+ who have not seen Hijack yet, enjoy being able to binge Idris Elba and the seven episodes. It was torture waiting week to week to see the new eps. leading up to today's finale.

Odd choice to have a smile, particularly after that last oral history podcast episode in which Rocky Schmidt noted how difficult it was to get Alex to smile.

Andy mentioned a late DD in the 6-30-94 game he just archived. The clue was about the swearing in of Calvin Coolidge. That event marked its 100th anniversary earlier this week and to celebrate his hometown hosted a reenactment at the exact moment and exact spot it happened 100 years earlier. Two of Coolidge’s great-grandchildren portrayed Coolidge and his wife, Grace. Former Vermont governor Jim Douglas played Coolidge’s father. Here is a video of it.

Here's the San Simeon/Hearst Castle shuttle ride with narration by Alex Trebek. There's something oddly comforting about AT telling us that chewing gum is not allowed on the tour.

If Alex Trebek tells me to keep my head and arms inside the windows, I'm keeping my head and arms inside the windows.

He also suggests that you take home some fresh Hearst Ranch Beef, so be sure to visit the kiosk in the Visitor Center. 🥩

When I was caught up on watching AGT live I did not bother switching to another program (or baseball game) since the show still had 30 minutes to go. Instead I went to the computer and decided to play a round of baseball on the Google Doodle from 2019. A little rusty, I had two outs early.

Before the 3rd out I connected on a red fastball. I barely managed to get a screen shot in time.

It's still fun to play.

Not since 1939, at least. Possible clue material.

It's just a random quantity 0-10 from the next slots in the queue. Also you don't get to keep them, they still have to get sent back before October 20-whatever

Also, all three MLB home games Sunday have been moved to Saturday as a doubleheader. Monday can't come soon enough, this waiting around is wrecking my anxiety.

It's the fault of the Marlins coming to Dodger Stadium. Florida weather needs to stay in Florida.

It's rare enough that both "Los Angeles" baseball teams were at home the same weekend, but also they were both playing the Florida teams: the Dodgers vs. the Marlins, and the Angels vs. the Rays. With that kind of scheduling, a hurricane almost seems inevitable.

Well, -for me-, Sunday was uneventful.

And apparently you get to keep those bonus discs...

Meh, I'll just leave it as is rather than try goosing my odds to something specific

Interesting. The Washington Post is saying the opposite -- you can't keep them: https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-ent ... -giveaway/

Q.
Do I need to return any remaining discs after the last shipping day?
A.
You will not be charged for any unreturned discs - please enjoy them for as long as you like! If you do choose to return the disc, we will continue to accept returns until October 27th, 2023.
I think it's both though; under the licencing agreement, we -shouldn't- keep the disc(s), but NetFlix will choose to absorb the penalties if we do.

Ranking the popularity of the original Star Trek crew, based on the J-Archive search:

Trek Spock = 36 results
Trek Kirk = 26 results
Trek McCoy = 11 results
Trek Scotty = 11 results
Trek Sulu = 8 results
Trek Uhura = 8 results
Trek Chekov = 4 results, but he's the only one to get an FJ hit.

Obviously, refined searches would change the numbers, but I found the ties to be particularly interesting.
